Verb can
es un verbo modal.

• No ponemos "to", se dice el verbo Can, nunca se dice TO can, 
• No añade "S" para He, she, it  (he can, she can, it can)
• Es irregular en la forma del pasado (could)

 Significado
Se usa para expresar habilidad y permiso.
Habilidad:  ¿sabes tocar la guitarra?
                  Can you play the guitar?
Permiso: ¿puedo cerrar la ventana?
               Can I close the window?

Affirmative

• I can play the trumpet.
  Yo puedo/sé tocar la trompeta.  

• You can sit here if you like.
  Puedes sentarte aquí si quieres. 

 

Negative: hay tres formas y las tres son correctas.

• I can not swim.
  No puedo/sé nadar.
• That cannot be true.
  Eso no puede ser cierto.
• You can't tell me what to do.
  No puedes decirme qué hacer  

Interrogative

• Can Peter speak German?
  ¿Puede/sabe Peter hablar alemán?
• Can you help me with my homework?
  ¿Me puedes ayudar con mi tarea?
